The SWTJC 成人教育 & 读写能力 Program is a federally funded project (since 1973) that provides adults the opportunity to improve their literacy levels and skills, thereby increasing their ability to function in the complex society and job market of the 21st Century. The project operates an 11 county region that includes Dimmit, 爱德华兹, 奥, Kinney, La Salle, 特立独行的, 麦地那, 真正的, Val佛, Uvalde, and Zavala counties.

Hours of Operation:

Day Classes: Monday - Thursday 8:30 am - 12:00 pm
Evening Classes: Monday - Wednesday 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

The program's educational staff is comprised of experienced and dedicated instructors who posses the minimum of a B.A. degree and have special 培训 in adult education. Students learn at their own pace in a relaxed college type atmosphere.

成人教育 & 读写能力 provides comprehensive 英语 literacy services with basic instruction in reading, 写作, and mathematics to adult learners. 除了, adult education programs provide workplace literacy services and family literacy services. Performance indicators include placement in, 保留在, 或完成, post-secondary education, 培训, employment or career advancement in addition to receipt of a TXCHSE (Texas Credential of High School Equivalency) or GED. In communities across the Lone Star state, adult students gain the education necessary to find and keep jobs working in the highly-skilled occupations that increasingly characterize the Texas economy. AEL programs help Texans build a strong foundation of academic skills in order to fulfill their roles as workers, 父母, and citizens/community members.

How Do Adults Participate in 成人教育 & 读写能力 项目?

There are several qualifications an individual must meet in order to be eligible to participate in an adult education class. He/she must be at least 17 years of age (16 if 法院 ordered) or older. Additionally, he/she must lack a high school diploma and/or function at or below 12.9年级 education level, and not currently enrolled in secondary school.
